AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 06, 2005 --
Wintegra, the fabless semiconductor company
enabling the next generation of access networks, announced ZyXEL
Communications Corporation (TSE: 2391), world leading broadband access
solution provider, has selected Wintegra's WinPath Access Processors as the
aggregation device of choice for several new modules for its IP DSLAM
family.
Wintegra's WinPath processors provide the essential building blocks for a
wide range of line cards and "Pizza Box" systems for ZyXEL's IP DSLAM
product line. ZyXEL's DSLAM family provides an innovative market leading
mix of DSLAM solutions. From affordable mini DSLAMs to high port count
modular solutions, all IP DSLAM systems offer state of the art IP-based
Internet, Voice, and Video connectivity. These IP DSLAMs provide
significant advantages over traditional technologies with increased
efficiency, faster speeds, and improved management. WinPath supports DSL
line rates from 128 Kbps to over 24 Mbps, and includes market leading
production quality datapath software, such as VLAN, Bridging, and
Multicast. The WinPath software set is RAM based which eliminates "truck
rolls" for code upgrades or reconfiguring customer services, and is royalty
free.
"Wintegra has been a strong partner for our IP DSLAM products," said Dr. P.
C. Lee, VP of the Telco/ISP COE Business Unit at ZyXEL. "Their silicon and
software have good features and performance, and they have provided
excellent technical support in the design of these systems."
"ZyXEL has an impressive family of IP DSLAM products," said Robert O'Dell,
SVP of Marketing at Wintegra. "Providers can choose from their
cost-competitive, feature-rich, temperature hardened pizza-box and chassis
style form factors, to support a wide variety of deployment scenarios. We
are pleased to be playing a role in some of their success stories."
WinPath is capable of supporting ADSL/ADSL2+, SHDSL, and VDSL line
technologies at maximum rates. It integrates standard ATM and Ethernet
interfaces required for both traditional and IP DSLAMs. The supplied
production quality software handles all traffic aggregation, traffic
management, QoS (ATM & IP), interworking and bridging functions required in
the latest IP DSLAM designs.
